The Stanley Hotel! The New Evidence

One of the most haunted locations on the planet

The Stanley Hotel

The Stanley Hotel is a 142-room hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, United States of America. The Stanley offers panoramic views of Lake Estes, the Rockies and especially Long's Peak. It was built by Freelan Oscar Stanley of Stanley Steamer fame and opened on July 4, 1909, catering to the American upper class at the turn of the century, the hotel and its surrounding structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

This hotel is famed with being the inspiration of the novel and film “The Shining” Written by Stephen King! Stephen says he got the inspiration for the book whilst spending a short stay at the hotel. Despite a peaceful early history, in the years following the publication of The Shining, The Stanley Hotel has gained a reputation among paranormal investigators for frequent activity. The hotel offers guided "Ghost Tours" to guests and visitors which feature spaces reputed to be exceptionally active. The hotel has also served as a location for numerous paranormal investigation shows such as Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures.

So, if the hotel wasn’t known for its haunting's before the publication of The Shining, perhaps the book lent “paranormal credit” to the story of the Stanley hotel and its famous rooms, such as room 217 which is claimed to be one of the most haunted on site!

However, in recent years the hotel has come into the paranormal “limelight” again with photos such as this:

In the photo you can see what appears to be an image of a person who appears to be in period clothes at the top of the staircase! Although this photo has be the centre of a lot of debate it has yet to be debunk! So, perhaps it’s the real deal? It certainly looks authentic and if it is indeed a real photo which captures the presence of the paranormal it has to be one of the best out there!

What are your thoughts on the Stanley hotel?
